Liverpool City Council, Culture Liverpool and Public Health Liverpool
We are a proud, resilient people, it’s in our DNA
We wrote the tender and pitch, and won the commission for our team to work with Liverpool City Council, Culture Liverpool and Public Health Liverpool to deliver a creative art project about Liverpool residents experience of COVID 19. They wanted to show how it impacted our communities and how it affected people’s resilience.
The only way to know, is to ask so we held several workshops across Liverpool including at Liverpool Lighthouse in Anfield, Kuumba Imani Millenium Centre in Toxteth and at The Florrie in Dingle to speak to the communities about how they had managed. It was incredibly eye opening and showed stories of grief, fear, compassion, community, isolation and friendship.
Apt's engagement programme was nominated for the national government engagement award.
We love a good collaboration so we worked with a team of experts to help us tell these stories in a city-wide, visually impactful and meaningful way. The important things for us, were to listen, reflect the mood of the city and tell peoples’ stories sensitively.
We worked with the very lovely Focal Studios who are projection mapping, immersive media, design and video production guru’s, on projecting the designs on to some landmark buildings around the city including Goodison Park and the Albert Dock.
We were also happy to be able to work with Defproc, a technically innovative engineering company to bring to life an interactive playable game about it, that Focal projected on to the side of the Museum of Liverpool. A lot of fun was had playing that on such an iconic building.
And finally, we worked with The Guide Liverpool to film interviews with the interns and employers.
It was a HUGE project involving graphic design, community workshops, printed media like flyers but also billboards, digtal billboard, adverts, projected imagery and the interactive game.
Absolutely proud of all involved.
