St Helens YMCA Listening Service Brand
A safe place to be listened to and not judged
St Helens YMCA came to us for a brand for their listening service. They have been delivering services including accommodation, family work, health and wellbeing, training and education and support and advice for the local community for over 100 years.
Dr Karen Nolan, Chief Executive Officer explained they needed a lively new brand for their listening service.
The Listening Service offers one to one support for young people aged 12-18 who would benefit from mental health focussed support and/or someone to talk to. This service was a semi finalist in the YMCA England and Wales Youth Matters Awards 2023 in 2 categories - Health and Wellbeing project of the year, and Support and Advice project of the year.
It was really important to make sure the young people who use the service had a voice in how it was created, so we produced some ideas from the initial brief and sent them over for the staff at the YMCA to have a conversation around.
It was also important that it fitted into the national YMCA guidelines that must be used.
We love working with young people, they are brutally honest, which is what you need for successful design. Armed with their feedback, preferred colours and comments, we created more ideas from that until the young people were happy.
We provided St Helens with all the variants of the logo, bubbles for them to use as they need too, and templates in Indesign for leaflets and posters. We also designed some decal’s for the wall and for banners.
It was lovely to work with St Helens and their amazing service.
